Botany Rail Duplication
The Botany Rail Duplication project, completed in early 2024, was a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing the efficiency and capacity of Sydney's freight rail network. Delivered by the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC), the project focused on duplicating the remaining 2.9-kilometre single-track section between Mascot and Botany, thereby streamlining freight movement to and from Port Botany
The Botany Rail Duplication is part of a broader strategy to bolster Sydney's freight infrastructure, complementing projects like the Cabramatta Passing Loop, which facilitates the movement of longer freight trains on the Southern Sydney Freight Line . These initiatives collectively aim to meet the increasing demand for efficient freight transport, driven by the projected growth in container volumes at Port Botany.
