Marrickville Station - Sydney Metro
The Marrickville Station upgrade is a pivotal component of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project, aimed at transforming the T3 Bankstown Line between Sydenham and Bankstown into a state-of-the-art metro system.
This initiative is part of Sydney's broader strategy to enhance public transportation by introducing a high-frequency, driverless metro network. The Sydney Metro will include 46 stations expanding to 113km of rail metro.
Key Features:
-
The station will feature level access between platforms and trains, eliminating the step gap and facilitating easier boarding for all passengers.
-
Installation of platform screen doors will prevent accidental falls and unauthorized access to tracks, enhancing overall passenger safety.
-
Upgrades include improved lighting, tiling, and paving, contributing to a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing station environment.
-
Priority was placed on protecting the heritage listed building with successful efforts made to preserve heritage integrity that pre-dated 1900s
